3D Printers and Modernization Tree: Glen Scofield talks about weapon levelling in The Callisto Protocol

Game director of The Callisto Protocol Glen Scofield revealed in an interview with IGN at Gamescom 2022 details about the weapons customization system in the upcoming survival horror and how this system will affect battles.

Each weapon in The Callisto Protocol will have its own upgrade tree, and players will be able to upgrade it using location-based installations with 3D printers that act as workbenches.

The Modernization Tree will offer options for improvement that will allow weapons to change over time.

For example, instead of a linear increase in damage, players will be able to make the weapon more narrowly focused depending on the upgrades they choose.

At the same time, it is impossible to open the entire improvement tree in one pass, which, according to Scofield, is the reproducibility of The Callisto Protocol.

Weapons will also be evenly balanced between melee and long-range combat, giving players more options in their combat preferences.

Finally, Scofield noted that, with several months left before the game's release, the main work of the studio on the project is now associated with the elimination of errors. The release of The Callisto Protocol will take place on December 2.
