At the beginning of the year, Sony shared details of the PlayStation VR2, unveiled the design of the helmet and announced the first Horizon: Call of the Mountain exclusive for it, but still has not confirmed when the headset will be released on sale.

Last summer, Bloomberg reported that the manufacturer is aiming to release the helmet in the festive season of 2022, but blogger PSVR Without Parole, who accurately leaked the technical characteristics of the headset before the announcement, recently issued other information, saying that the release of the PlayStation VR2 will take place only in the first quarter of 2023.

Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, is also leaning toward the latter option. On Twitter, he noted that the supply of VR displays this year 50% and will reach 15 million units, despite the delays of devices from Apple and Sony, and also predicted a big jump for 2023, probably due to the release of new headsets by that time.

At the GDC 2022 held in March, a private show of PS VR2 was held. According to rumors, in the near future a full-fledged public presentation of the helmet may take place.
