DC Universe Online Cancelled MMORPG for Marvel Comics

Representatives of the Enad Global 7 holding announced that the authors of DC Universe Online are no longer working on the MMORPG based on Marvel comics.

The existence of the project became known last year thanks to a presentation to investors - the game was supposed to be handled by Jack Emmert, lead designer at Cryptic Studios, who worked on City of Heroes, City of Villains, Marvel Universe Online and Star Trek Online.

Now, EG7 representatives have revised their own plans, assessing the potential risks of development, further strategy, and the like - and as a result, they decided to focus on other long-term projects, canceling the creation of MMOs.

EG7 planned to invest over £40m (nearly $50m) into the project, which will now go to several smaller projects. The latter includes updates for The Lord of Rings Online and DC Universe Online. EG7 also wants to do their own original projects.
