If you thought that physical exhibitions were already dead, Gamescom 2022 successfully proved the opposite.
The organizers of the German Gamescom, issued a press release on the occasion of the end of this year's exhibition in Cologne, announcing that the event attracted 265 thousand visitors from more than 100 countries in five days.
Although this is lower than the 373,000 visitors registered in the pre-Covid 2019 year, the result is still large, given that tickets to Gamescom 2022 were sold in limited quantities due to the precautions against Covid-19.
About 1,100 exhibitors from 53 countries took part in this year's exhibition.
The online part of Gamescom 2022 was also recognized as a success, gathering about 130 million views on all platforms as of Saturday night, and the Opening Night Live ceremony attracted more than 12 million viewers.
Felix Falk, Managing Director of the German Gaming Industry Association, noted that despite all the difficulties, Gamescom 2022 exceeded the expectations of the organization.
The exhibition is to return in 2023 and take place from 23 to 27 August. The ONL presentation is scheduled for August 22.
In the same year, fans of video games are waiting for another major event - the Japanese Tokyo Games Show, which will be held from September 15 to 18.
