Twin-stick shooter Codename: Loop, which is a fan-made Half-Life spin-off with a top view, has received approval from Valve and will be released on Steam in the near future.
This was announced on the ModDB website by the game developer PinkyDev.
One of the features of Codename: Loop is its compatibility with the BSP file format from the first Half-Life, which made it possible to use the assets of the GoldSrc engine, preserving the visual and atmosphere of the original game, but already on the Unity Engine.
The project also supports an over-the-shoulder perspective and can even return to a first-person view if suddenly someone wants to create new levels for him in the classic FPS style.
"I will do everything in my power to [implement] Steam Workshop support.
This way, everyone will be able to share and upload [new] campaigns and levels, supporting this game forever," Pinkydev added screenshots of the early version:Codename: Loop was originally conceived as a Roguelike game in the Half-Life universe, but over time PinkyDev shifted the focus to developing a linear campaign and introducing support for mods, and moved the idea of a "roguelike" to a separate mode.
