Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 4 will ship on two discs at once - the game is very large

Physical copies of the racing simulator Gran Turismo 7 in the version for The PlayStation 4 will ship on two discs. Information about this was discovered on the project's page in the PlayStation Direct online store.

The use of two optical media at once is due to the large volume of the game and the technical features of the old Sony consoles. Both the PS4 and PS4 Pro are equipped with conventional BD drives, which are limited to supporting dual-layer Blu-Ray discs with a maximum capacity of 50 GB . According to the same PlayStation Direct, to install the GT7, you will need at least 110 GB of free space on both consoles , in connection with which the distribution kit of the new Polyphony Digital race will be divided into two discs.

Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 uses the more advanced Ultra HD Blu-ray standard that has been designed specifically for the 4K experience. Three-layer discs of this format have a capacity of 100 GB , which eliminates the need to use two media. Buyers of the PS5 version of Gran Turismo 7 at retail they will receive a box with one disc in the kit .

Previously, two parts of the series have already been released on two discs - Gran Turismo 2 in 1999 for the first PlayStation and an expanded edition of Gran Turismo Sport: Spec-II for PlayStation 4. The latter contains everything updates and additional content released up to version 1.39.
