Bandai Namco lifted the embargo on the publication of the first previews of Tekken 8.

Selected Western journalists and bloggers personally spent several hours watching the early version of the fighting game and shared their impressions.

The materials for the most part came out very positive.

Tekken 8 is praised for its fascinating gameplay, bright styling, interesting character roster, as well as new and familiar mechanics that have undergone changes.

It is noted that Tekken 8 is perceived as a game that pushes players to aggressive actions — just such an effect was initially sought by its producer Katsuhiro Harada.

This is largely due to the integration of the new Heat mechanics into the gameplay, designed as a separate energy scale, which is spent on two main actions. The first is the so—called Heat State.

A mode in which the character gets a temporary boost — the movements become faster, stronger, and also acquire additional properties.

When the Heat State is activated, the energy scale begins to decrease rapidly, however, if you successfully attacked the enemy or blocked a counter attack, the scale stops decreasing.

This system is designed to push players to constantly press the opponent. The second point tied to the Heat scale is some powerful Heat Smash techniques, similar to the Rage Arts system from Tekken 7.

In addition, journalists say with one voice that Tekken 8 is a game that is well suited for new players.

In particular, the new Special Style option, which is a simplified control layout that facilitates the input of commands and partially automates the gameplay, deserves mention.

It is noteworthy, however, that Special Style is not a separate option in the menu, but a system integrated directly into the gameplay.

In other words, you can switch from traditional and "easy" control and back directly in combat. The basis of the gameplay also remained strong, experts say.

Tekken 8 is expected to become one of the most versatile fighting games for a wide audience on the market. Tekken 8 is being created for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The release date has not yet been disclosed.
