Nintendo has bought Dynamo Pictures, a CG and anime studio that will become Nintendo Pictures

Nintendo announced the purchase of 100% of the Japanese studio Dynamo Pictures. The deal is scheduled to close by October 3, when Dynamo Pictures will become a new division of Nintendo called Nintendo Picturesits task will be to plan and produce visual content based on the franchises of the platform holder.

Dynamo Pictures was founded in 2004 to work on CGI videos, assets and models for games, films, commercials and anime, and later began producing content for hybrid music concerts, clips and VR attractions. In addition, the studio has a professional mocap department, which cooperated with such companies as Capcom, Square Enix and Kojima Productions.

The studio first worked with Nintendo in the years Metroid: Other M — its specialists were part of the team responsible for the CG clips for the game.

Later, a series of short films Pikmin Short Movies was created at the production facilities of the studio.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said

earlier that his company is very interested in the animation segment, and also hinted that it will not limit itself to just the upcoming Hollywood movie based on Super Mario.
