At a recent meeting with investors, Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa once again stressed the importance of making the transition from Switch to the next console as smooth as possible.

According to him, the company will try to do everything to avoid problems that it has faced before — for example, when switching from Wii to Wii U.

In the case of the transition to the next system, shared Nintendo accounts should help, which today can be used by players on Switch and mobile devices — there are more than 290 million registered in the world.

Accounts store information about the user, his digital purchases, bonus points, game saves and other data — the media believe that in this way Furukawa hinted that the new console has backward compatibility with Switch.

"Previously, with the launch of each new console, we had to re-build relationships with our users.

Now we use the Nintendo shared account system and strive to ensure with its help a successful transition from Switch to the next-generation console," Furukawa explained.

The President also speculated about the current state of the Switch, noting that it demonstrates the unprecedented involvement of players at such a late stage of the life cycle by the standards of Nintendo consoles.

Nintendo sells tens of millions of copies of games and breaks records for the speed of distribution of the latest top exclusives.

"For the seventh full fiscal year of Switch, we are going to sell 15 million consoles and 180 million copies of games.

Nothing like this has happened with our past consoles, this is the first time for us. Over the past six months, we have released two games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and The Legend of Zelda:

Tears of the Kingdom, which sold an unprecedented 10 million copies for Nintendo in three days. We will continue to release games for our huge engaged audience on Switch.

We also plan to distribute additional content for existing games so that customers can enjoy them for a long time." Super Mario Bros. Wonder should be the next big Switch super hit.
