Along with the announcement of the GeForce RTX 40 series, NVIDIA also introduced novelties in the field of software.

One of them was RTX Remix, a free platform based on NVIDIA Omniverse, designed to simplify the independent remastering of old computer games.

In short, RTX Remix allows you to improve materials and add various modern graphics capabilities to games that were not supported by them at the time of launch.

This includes full tracing, DLSS, as well as volumetric fog and lighting. The modernization process is carried out using machine learning algorithms.

According to NVIDIA, RTX Remix will support games running on DirectX 8 and DirectX 9, but not all, but only from the list of compatible games.

During the announcement, an example of improving The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind was shown.

Creating RTX remasters with RTX Remix will require a GeForce RTX series graphics card, while the mods themselves can later run on any GPU that supports ray-tracing games via the Vulkan API.

The platform is not yet available. The announced RTX remaster Portal, by the way, was developed by NVIDIA specialists just using RTX Remix.
