Sony reports on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 shipments

Sony announced in a recent financial report that worldwide shipments of the PlayStation 5 now exceed 19.3 million units, while the PS4 level is 117.2 million. The data is current as of March 31, 2022.

In the first three months of this year, PS5 and PS4 shipments totaled 2 million and 100,000 units, respectively. In the same period a year earlier, these figures were 3.3 million and 1 million devices.

Additionally, as of March 31, 2022, there were 47.4 million PS Plus subscribers, down 200,000 from March 31, 2021.

At the same time, from the beginning of January to the end of March this year, 70.5 million PS5 and PS4 games were sold - this is 9.1 million more than a year earlier. And 14.5 million of the games sold last quarter were games from Sony's own studios (previously this figure was 7.9 million). Digital purchases accounted for 71% of sales (previously 79%).
