PlayStation VR2 is coming to the virtual reality market in February. The research company predicted sales of the device.
According to the forecast of the Omdia technology research and consulting group, Sony's new VR headset will sell better than its predecessor and will sell 3.6 million units in the first two years after its release.
For comparison, the original PlayStation VR sold 3 million units in the same period.
If the second generation of the gadget is sold in accordance with forecasts, then the expected attachment rate among PlayStation 5 owners will be 7%.
Omdia also predicts that the cumulative sales of Meta headsets* Quest will reach 20 million by the end of 2022.
At the moment, it is the largest VR ecosystem, occupying a dominant market share. It is expected that 76% of all headsets sold this year will be Meta* Quest.
In general, the VR market is projected to continue growing.
Total sales of all headsets should reach 12.5 million by the end of 2022, and $ 1.6 billion will be spent on VR content, according to the report. *
