Sequel "Avatar" received the subtitle "The Way of Water" — the picture will be released in cinemas on December 14

At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the premiere of the second "Avatar" 3D teaser took place. The film was subtitled "The Way of Water" and its release date was December 14, 2022. In the United States, the picture will begin to be shown on December 16.

The plot of the sequel unfolds some time after the events of the first part. Jake Sally (Sam Worthington) leads a peaceful life on Pandora with Nathiri (Zoe Saldana) and the children when the old threat returns to the planet. The hero, together with his family, is forced to lead the army of Na 'vi to stop the invasion of people.

The Waterway will be the first of four Avatar sequels. According to producer John Landau, all future films will create a single, closely related saga, but at the same time will have complete stories.

Disney also reported that 23 the sequel stars Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeo, Edie Falco, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Una Chaplin, Germaine Clement and others.

Avatar creator James Cameron was unable to attend the event, but organized a live show from Wellington in New Zealand, where he is currently filming. The Oscar-winning director noted that “he worked hard to add the finishing touches to the film.”

Cameron added that new films “push boundaries with high frame rates, 3D resolution, and plausible visual effects.” The director wanted to make the return to Pandora something special, so he prepared content that must be watched in the cinema.
