Capcom producer Tsuyoshi Kanda shared on the PlayStation blog the latest details of the Winters' Expansion horror add-on Resident Evil: Village.

As previously announced, the DLC will include a third-person view for the main game and new content for The Mercenaries mode, but its main feature will be Shadows of Rose — a storyline expansion that will unfold 16 years after the events of the original RE: Village and focus on Rose, Ethan Winters' mature daughter.

Canada paid the most attention to the latter. The action of Shadows of Rose takes place in the realm of Megamycilia consciousness — a world where there are many traps and monsters lurking.

Rose can only carry a gun, a few rounds of ammunition, and first-aid supplies. With virtually no resources, Rose will have to use her powers, which she desperately wants to get rid of.

Her unusual abilities can temporarily immobilize enemies, as well as be used to destroy obstacles encountered in the way.

Effectively using Rose's powers, players will be able to accurately target the opponent's weak spots. One of the terrible monsters Rose will encounter is known as the Face Eater.

It is a dangerous creature, lurking in the realm of consciousness and capable of sucking out life from other living beings.

As soon as one of the Face Eaters captures Rose, she will receive significant damage, so Kanda advises to do everything possible to avoid contact with them.

In third-person mode for the original Resident Evil: Village, players will be able to see Ethan's new animations, including when he will be attacked by opponents.

The developers believe that in this way they managed to create a "new unique type of horror gameplay", which differs from the standard gameplay with a first-person view.

Winters' Expansion will be released on October 28 as a separate paid kit for the owners of the base game, as well as as as part of the golden edition of Resident Evil: Village.
