Sony's confirmed plans for 2023 so far include only the February launch of the PlayStation VR2 headset with Horizon: Call of the Mountain in the launch lineup and the fall release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
At the same time, rumors have been actively spreading over the network in recent months, claiming that by the end of next year Sony is also going to bring to market an updated PlayStation 5 model with a detachable disk drive.
The company still does not give this confirmation, but a recent comment by Sony's senior vice president for platform planning and management Hideaki Nisino seems to indicate that a new version of the PS5 is indeed on the way.
When asked in an interview with Famitsu about what Sony is preparing for 2023, when the PS5 enters its third year of life, Nisino replied that he could not talk about specifics right now, but noted that next year would be very important for the platform and promised that players would wait even more.
Interestingly, the question about future plans was asked in the context of the fact that the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim came out just in the third year of the PS4, so Nisino's words can be taken as a hint at the hardware update of the current console.
