Sony has decided to purchase Savage Game Studios, announced the head of PlayStation Studios Herman Hulst.
Founded several years ago by mobile industry veteran Mikhail Katkoff, the "Next Generation Mobile Games" studio consists of former employees of Rovio, Wargaming, Rockstar Games and Next Games.
She is already working on the first project under the wing of Sony — a kind of service AAA action.
In an address to users, Hermann Hulst recalled that Sony recently set out to expand beyond the PlayStation consoles, and active work with mobile platforms is part of this initiative.
Savage Game Studios will be part of the newly created mobile division of PlayStation Studios and will create mobile games based on new and existing Sony gaming franchises.
The goal is to introduce more people to the Sony series and reach a new audience.
Khulst stressed that the work of the mobile unit will not affect the work of the creators of games for consoles and PCs.
The head of PlayStation Studios also called 2022 "an amazing year for PlayStation fans", reminded of the games already released and the upcoming launch of God of War Ragnarok.
2023 will begin with the premiere of the PlayStation VR2 Virtual Reality Helmet for PlayStation 5.
