As of June 30, Sony has sold 21.7 million PlayStation 5 consoles worldwide. This is stated in the report of the Japanese corporation for the first quarter of the current financial year.

In the last three months, 2.4 million pieces of PlayStation 5 were sold — 0.1 million more than in the same period a year earlier.

The PlayStation 4 does not appear in the iron report — the supply of these systems seems to have completely stopped.

In the first quarter, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 purchased 41.7 million copies of the games, 16.5 million fewer than the same period a year earlier (63.6 million copies).

Sony's own games accounted for 6.4 million copies (10.5 million a year earlier) .79%of the games were sold in digital format.

A year earlier, digital downloads from the PS Store accounted for 71% of sales.

The number of PS Plus subscribers reached 47.3 million, 1 million more than a year earlier, but 0.1 million less than last quarter.

Gaming revenue fell by 11.7%, while operating profit declined by 30.5% compared to the first quarter of last year.

Sony attributed this to lower sales of games, DLC, as well as increased costs for the development of new modern projects.

According to Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki, demand for PlayStation 5 still exceeds supply, but the situation on the production front is gradually improving, so the PlayStation team is optimistic about the future.

She intends to sell 18 million PlayStation 5 consoles in the current fiscal year — this plan has remained unchanged.

However, Sony reduced the overall forecasts for the annual operating profit of the gaming division by 16%.

This is due to the cost of buying Bungie, as well as expectations for game and DLC sales from third-party developers — this year they should show themselves worse than originally expected.
