Adapts and scares: The developers of The Callisto Protocol talked about the AI of enemies

The Striking Distance studio has repeatedly emphasized that elements of horror are at the forefront of The Callisto Protocol.

In a recent interview with VG247, Chief Technical Officer Mark James shared more details about this aspect of the game.

In particular, James spoke about the artificial intelligence systems implemented in The Callisto Protocol, and how they play a crucial role in enhancing the horror effect.

"Our AI can decide not to attack you.

Instead, the enemy will jump into the vent in front of you, and necessarily so that you can see it and know that he is there now, and will wait for the next time when he can jump out of another vent and attack you."

Interestingly, The Callisto Protocol will also be able to adapt to the player's actions and change attack options depending on the style of combat. "AI will always look for the best way to attack.

Sometimes enemies will try to get closer to you, and sometimes they will react to the manner of the game in order to take advantage of it.

For example, if you constantly use long-range ballistics, the enemy will leave your line of sight, possibly into the ventilation, and find another way to get close to you."

""If you repeatedly use the same type of combat, the enemy will intelligently change their behavior.

All this is connected with the virus - it mutates and changes people who were in prison, making them more deadly opponents."

According to James, dynamic artificial intelligence will also be combined with sound design to heighten tension and make players feel even more vulnerable. The project will be released on December 2.
