For quite a long time, one of the problems with Xbox was the inability to play user-owned games without an Internet connection.

After a while, Microsoft seems to have changed the requirements for DRM, since after the release of the September update, Xbox owners can now finally launch games offline, albeit with some reservations.

Yutuber Hikikomori Media released a video in which he told about the change and tested how games now behave without connecting the console to the network.

The latest update allows you to run all games offline with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with the exception of some titles, such as Forza Horizon 5 and Halo: Infinite, whose drives contain only part of the files, and the rest need to be downloaded.

Also, Internet access is still needed for projects with Xbox and Xbox 360, since in the case of titles from old consoles, disks only serve as a key to verify the license, while the games themselves are downloaded from servers in the form of backward-compatible versions.

At the same time, if you have already downloaded the game, then the next offline launch should not cause problems. The same applies to all purchased digital copies of games downloaded to the console.

One more point: new users who have just purchased an Xbox still need an initial registration before starting the game.

To do this, you must connect to the Internet at least once to activate your account, after which the system will be able to run games offline.

Previously, the only solution for offline gaming was to assign your Xbox console as a home console, but this method did not always work correctly.
