The development team presented a remaster of the classic shooter Star Wars: Dark Forces, released in 1995 on MS-DOS and Macintosh, and ported to PlayStation in 1996.
Enthusiasts with nicknames LuciusDXL, Winterheart and Gilorem560 have been updating the game for three years.
The project called The Force Engine includes a complete redesign of the Jedi Engine and is actually a 4K reissue of the original Dark Forces.
The version flaunts improved graphics, an additional set of functions like full-fledged mouse control and a new save system.
In 2023, the authors plan to add cross—platform support for Linux and macOS, as well as complete work on the remaster of Outlaws - a shooter that also uses the Jedi Engine.
