The current fiscal year ending March 31 should be a record in the history of Capcom in terms of game sales.

In the first three quarters, the Japanese company sold 29.1 million copies of games — 4 million more than in the same period a year earlier.

It is expected that by the end of March, sales will exceed 40 million copies — this is the first time Capcom has recorded such volumes within one year.

Most of the sales are for old games that find a new audience thanks to discounts, sales and the appearance of versions for current platforms.

According to forecasts, in the current fiscal year Capcom will sell 30 million copies of classics and 10 million copies of new games — the latter include, first of all, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and the remake of Resident Evil 4.

According to the results of the first nine months of the fiscal year, Capcom's revenue decreased by 9.6%, and operating profit by 5%, this is due to the appearance of a smaller number of major novelties during this period.

However, it is expected that the remake of Resident Evil 4 will smooth out all the disadvantages and provide the publisher with another record year — the 10th in a row.

Resident Evil 4 will be released on March 24 — a week before the end of the fiscal year. Capcom plans to immediately put millions of copies in stores.
