Dr. Strange's sequel surpassed all predictions and showed impressive results in the box office at the end of the first weekend.

The film comedy started on May 6 in 49 foreign markets and by the end of the first weekend earned around the world 450 million dollars, $265 million of which fall on the international distribution, and the remaining $185 million — on house collecting.

The figure of $450 million is the second largest for Hollywood films in the pandemic era and the fourth of all Marvel Studios films after Avengers: The Finale, Avengers: The War of Infinity and Spider-Man: No Way Home. In addition, according to Disney estimates, "Doctor Strange 2" took the sixth place in the global start in history and set a new cash record in IMAX for the May reporting period, collecting a total of $33 million.

South Korea became the leader in foreign markets on collecting with $30 million, followed by Great Britain ($24.7 million), Mexico ($21.5 million), Brazil ($16.3 million), India ($12.7 million), Australia ($12.6 million), Germany ($12 million), France ($11 million), Japan ($9.4 million) and Italy ($9 million). In China and Russia, the release of "Doctor Strange 2" did not take place.

"Dr. Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness" was directed by Sam Raimy, author of the original Spider-Man trilogy with Toby Maguire. In the film, the consequences of the dangerous spell from "No Way Home" force Dr. Strange to cross the Multiverse to face a new mysterious enemy and alternative versions of himself.
