It's been a year and a half since the release of PlayStation 5, but some players still can't get the console into their hands.

The shortage of chips has led to massive problems with the availability of the set-top box, the stock of which is depleted in just a few moments when new batches appear in stores.

It is reported that the supply situation will not improve anytime soon, so it will be some time before the PS5 is available for sale. At the same time, it seems that PlayStation 6 may already be in development.

AMD has opened a new job on LinkedIn looking for a SoC verification engineer to join the team creating the chips for also the latest graphics chips of the RDNA family to participate in the next generation processor development project.

“We are currently looking for a system-on-chip engineer who will be part of the team working on the sophisticated next-generation SoC design. The selected candidate will play a key role in the SoC verification by fulfilling functional, power and performance responsibilities in the simulation and hardware emulation environment.”

Although some players may find it strange to start creating new Xbox and PlayStation without improving the delivery of old ones, it is not surprising. The previous generation of set-top boxes entered development about two years after the launch of their predecessors. In addition, it should not be forgotten that The PS6 is clearly not worth it in the near future, but recently there have been rumors about an improved and more powerful PlayStation 5 model — the PS5 Pro — that is supposedly going on sale in 2024.
