Nintendo has set a cut-off date for Wii U and 3DS digital games in eShop — the feature will be disabled on March 27, 2023. Information about this was published on the official website.

The remaining funds must be spent by March 27, 2023.
Players who combine their funds associated with the Nintendo Network code (used in the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS) with funds associated with their Nintendo account (used in the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch) will be able to use the combined funds to purchase content on any of these consoles and systems until March 27, 2023.
Until March 27, 2023, you can also activate game codes in eShop on Wii U and 3DS — if you still find them available from third-party retailers.
After March 27, eShop will continue to operate in a limited mode — players will be able to download previously purchased and deleted from the game consoles.
