Consoles of the Nintendo Switch family will not fall in price even against the background of a gradual decline in sales. President Shuntaro Furukawa told about this at a meeting with investors.

Before Switch, no Japanese company's console felt so good six years after launch.

On the one hand, the demand for it is decreasing, but on the other hand, game sales remain at a very high level, and audience engagement is showing record values.

As Furukawa explained, now Nintendo's console business has "stepped into the unknown" — in order to attract a new audience at such late stages of the life cycle, you need to come up with new tactics, continuing to regularly release games.

"Our console business has stepped into the unknown. In the current situation, it will no longer be so easy to sell consoles in the same quantities.

We will try to attract users who are just planning to purchase a new console, are going to replace their old system with a new one, or buy an additional platform at home," said the head of Nintendo.

As for reducing the cost of current Switch models, Nintendo has no such plans.

The company does not believe that at this stage, when Switch has actually exceeded its initial plan and sold more than 100 million consoles, a price change is necessary.

"With regard to pricing processes for Nintendo Switch, we have always tried to find a balance between the cost of hardware, games and their value in the eyes of customers.

This has always been our long-term business strategy. We do not believe that any changes in this policy are necessary at this stage," said Shuntaro Furukawa.

Earlier, Nintendo reported that in the first 9 months of the current fiscal year, Switch sales decreased by 20% and lowered its revenue and profit forecast, citing the difficult economic situation in the world.

After that, the value of its shares fell by 7.5%. Investors are concerned about the lack of news about a successor amid Switch's transition to a late stage of the life cycle.
