Few people are able to surpass the Valve Index virtual reality headset in terms of hardware capabilities, but in the future Gabe Newell may release an even more advanced version of the device.

The Uploader portal has discovered that Valve has opened a new vacancy with a search for people for the position of computer vision software engineer who will help the company "take the next steps in the world of virtual reality."

The announcement does not directly mention the work on Valve Index2, but apparently, it is about her.

"We are looking for versatile and independent computer vision software engineers who will help us take the next steps in VR with millions of customers around the world.

The main tasks of this position are to create prototypes, launch and support consumer gaming products using visual inertial tracking (head-mounted display and controllers), as well as work on environmental recognition and eye and hand tracking."

The original Valve Index went on sale in June 2019 at a price of $ 499 for a basic set and for a long time held leading positions in the weekly Steam chart.

At the moment, Valve has shifted its priority from VR to the Steam Deck portable PC console and has not yet officially announced plans for Valve Index 2.
