The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has announced that NVIDIA will pay $5.5 million in fines for the company hiding how many graphics cards were sold to cryptocurrency miners.
As noted by the Commission, NVIDIA was still not honest enough with investors in 2017-2018 when it announced a significant increase in gaming-related revenues, without saying how much these revenues depended on unstable cryptocurrency mining. Accordingly, due to this very instability, the positions of investors who do not have the desired information could sooner or later suffer. And, in general, this happened by the end of 2018, which led to a lawsuit against the company.
At the same time, NVIDIA, which agreed to pay the fine, does not plead guilty, although it does not say otherwise.
