Microsoft has an increased interest in the market of mobile digital entertainment and games.

This was one of the key arguments in favor of buying Activision Blizzard Publishing, which owns the rights to the super-popular Candy Crush franchise and other mobile projects that generate millions of profits annually.

The head of the Xbox Phil Spencer told about it in Bloomberg interview.

"When we think about our opportunities, about plans for further development, it is necessary to take into account that mobile phones are the largest gaming platform in the world.

One and a half billion people play the phones. I admit with bitterness that for Microsoft, the mobile market is a somewhat alien space.

We are a console and PC company, and we have almost no creative departments that are involved in the development of popular mobile games.

Working in the industry for a long time, at some point or another you get to know different gaming companies and can immediately understand in which area they are more comfortable and efficient to work.

When we started internal negotiations with Activision Blizzard, special attention was paid to the mobile market, as well as the development under the PC, if we talk about Blizzard Entertainment.

We were very attracted to these two points, "said Phil Spencer.

Recall that according to the recent financial report, for the second quarter of this year, mobile games brought Activision Blizzard more money than console developments and PC projects combined.

Spencer promises to keep Call of Duty and other Activision Blizzard franchises on PlayStation after the merger.
