During a conversation with investors and analysts following the announcement of financial results, Sharp CEO Robert Wu said that in the current fiscal year, which will end in March 2024, the company will launch pilot lines for the production of LCD displays for the new console.

"I cannot comment on any details concerning specific clients. But as for the new game console, we were involved in its development," Wu said in a conversation with analysts.

Wu's comment came amid growing rumors about a Switch successor.

At the same time, Sharp already has a history of cooperation with Nintendo, including the organization of the supply of screens for DS and the production of Switch.

On Tuesday, Nintendo announced a slowdown in Switch sales, but noted that the new console will not be released until spring 2024.

After that, the Nikkei Asia publication stated, citing a source close to Nintendo, that work on the company's next console is progressing with significant progress.
