Sony buys esports platform Repeat.gg

Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to expand its presence on the esports field.

A year after purchasing the largest EVO Fighting tournament, the company decided to become the host of the esports platform Repeat.gg.Repeat.gg organizes esports tournaments based on the leaderboard, including games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty Warzone and League of Legends.

In total, the company has already held more than 100 thousand competitions among 2.3 million participants.

After completing the deal with Sony, the esports platform will continue to hold tournaments on games for all gaming systems, not limited to PlayStation.

At the same time, additional investments from the platform holder will allow it to modernize its infrastructure and expand the front of activity.

Sony itself is currently working on several multiplayer games in different genres. By 2026, it is going to produce ten service projects.

Sony recently completed a takeover of Bungie, the creators of Halo and Destiny.
