The Walking Dead was conceived as a Left 4 Dead spin-off

Last Sunday, a small documentary was released, timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of The Walking Dead game series. Thanks to this short video, it became known that the project was conceived as a plot branch of Left 4 Dead.

Since the brainchild of the studio Turtle Rock concentrated heavily on action, the spin-off was supposed to shed light on the drama of human survival in a zombie apocalypse. The plot of the game revolved around a young guy and his sister.

With this idea, one of the studio employees approached Robert Kirkman, the creator of the original The Walking Dead comics, to which he received approval. The only condition is that Rick Grimes should not be in the game, since the author had far-reaching plans for this character.

Unfortunately, the documentary doesn't say why Telltale ended up going off course. On the other hand, if it were not for this circumstance, then interactive cinema might not have received such distribution in the gaming industry.
