In the near future, Nintendo Wii U will stop supporting two apps for watching videos - YouTube and Crunchyroll.

In the case of YouTube, Google has a short notice that video hosting will stop working on the old Nintendo console in October. The app itself is no longer available for new downloads via eShop.

Crunchyroll, in turn, will cease to be distributed through the eShop on Wii U as of August 29 - at the same time, the service will no longer be available to all current users.

An email was sent out last week to terminate support for the app. In July, Nintendo warned about the timing of the eShop shutdown on the Wii U and 3DS.

Users of discontinued consoles after March 27, 2023 will no longer be able to make digital purchases and make new downloads of free content, including demos.

At the same time, players will still have the opportunity to re-download previously purchased games and DLCs, receive updates and play online.
